A STRANGE ENCOUNTER ON THE ROAD FROM WRELTON BACK AROUND 2008

FROM NOVEMBER 2006 UNTIL NOVEMBER 2010 I CO-OWNED A RETAIL FLOWER AND FANCY GOODS SHOP IN THE MARKET PLACE, PICKERING, RYEDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE

AS A PART OF OWNING AND RUNNING THIS SHOP I DID THE DELIVERY DRIVING - DELIVERING FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS

On a gorgeous spring/summer/autumn day around 2008 I had to make a delivery to Rosedale Abbey which required me to pass through the village of Wrelton on to Cropton
Out of Wrelton the road climbs upwards between a few small properties where it bends to the right passing by a grass verge
As I drove along the road I caught sight out of my peripheral of a large Mandrill sat on his haunches on the grass verge to the right
My head turned as I passed to get a better view because I couldn't quite believe what I was looking at but there it was
I slowed down slightly and although I was going to stop, I felt hesitant -  I didn't stop

On the return journey back to Pickering there was no sign of the creature

Around this time there were also reports of a large black cat walking past a local farmer who at the time was sat in his tractor
The cat just strolled past him and continued walking across the field
This occurred in Newton On Rawcliffe
